London, England closes before Kingston, Ontario... Whattt?

One night in Woolwich (where my friend Eric lives), on the outskirts of London, we decided it was time to go and hit the town! It was around 11pm and we were tired of sitting in his apartment on the Thames, just staring across the river at Canary Wharf (le sigh), and needed to get over there!
After some confusion with the trains (as in, they were not running past 11pm - BS!) we made our way to London on my favourite mode of transportation - the DLR (Docklands Light Rail) which is a self-running train system that goes along the Thames past Woolwich, Greenwich (and the O2), etc. We made our way to London to find the Tube was also closed. Damn you, London. Why don't you want us to have drinks?
After making our way up Southbank (a prominent district of pubs & restaurants by day) we found that everything was closing. EVERYTHING. At one final spot we tried I nearly had a hissy fit, saying "Kingston, Ontario is open later than London, England." the man did not understand so I repeated "You are LONDON, ENGLAND you are the centre of the world, why do you feel it is okay to stop serving booze at midnight?" At this, Eric promptly whisked me away from the barkeep and I was thrown into a cab.

Just like the beauty of London all covered in snow in December, the sights cannot be enjoyed when you are being denied what you want. We had one last option before we called it a night and went home - The Walkabout. The Walkabout is an Aussie bar which very importantly shows hockey on TV, along with various other North American sports. We love The Walkabout. (Please note: If we had went to a dance club, they all would have been open, but it just wasn't the vibe we were looking for at the time).

We approached to find that they had stopped letting people in at 12 but would be open until 3. A friend of Eric's says "Oh man, we're from Canada and we're just really thirsty. Do you know anywhere nearby that IS letting people in?" and suddenly the rules changed and we were allowed in. Amazing. Who knew the rules were different for thirsty Canadians? I guess they figured we would drop some serious green at their bar (which we did) and not cause too much of a ruckus (which we...did...).

More and more we love the Aussies <3

But seriously England, STAY OPEN LATER! It's obscene.
