I had been told really wonderful things about Florence and was therefore extremely excited to tour it. It, of course, was beautiful. We spent a lovely day seeing the sights of Florence (the David, the other not as famous statues, the outside of the palace as we were too cheap to go in, the Ponte Vecchio bridge, the Duomo, the leather market). It was an extremely lovely day, but really there is not a whole lot to report about Florence, except that it is gorgeous and extremely relaxing and if I can recommend one thing to anyone going, I highly recommend crossing the bridge and climbing the set of stairs up to the top of the cliff and looking over. It was breathtakingly beautiful. We started to get rained on a bit on our walk (the first rain of the trip) but we really enjoyed ourselves.

And of course, we tried our first bit of Limencello (a lemon appertif that Italians drink after yummy pasta and pizza dinners). It was recommended by Bernadette that we try this in Florence, so we did - sooo good!! We ended up finding a Limencello warehouse in Pompei the next day, which was amazing too (they let us sample the cream kind and the melon version.) Yum!
