Upon arriving home from Italy but not quite ready to get back into the swing of things (clearly still not quite ready, as I've spent today updating this blog with 2 months worth of stories instead of doing anything at all) we decided to head to Rochester, Kent. A Thames-view harbourfront town with the remains of an old castle (and the promise of GHOSTS in the castle). Actually no one promised me ghosts, but I just assumed there would be some.
I was also told that there was a Dickens' cafe (Charles Dickens being a native of the town) and a very large bookstore. All of these promises came true (even the ghost!) And we even had a lovely picnic on the grounds of the castle.
