After seeing a Hard Rock T-shirt from every single city in the world on my travels, I decided to find out what on earth was the big deal with the stupid restaurant.
Turns out it is the World's Most Spread Out Museum... soo all that stuff in there is concerned to be museum artefacts (which we all probably could have guessed, based on the way it is displayed) and different artists request for their things to be put in different city Hard Rock Cafes (usually based on hometowns or memorable concert venues, etc), pretty cool right?
What is even cooler is how it all started...
You see, these two American dudes were living large in London, England and they decided to open up a pub. They managed to pick up some property just outside of Green Park, and they named the place Hard Rock Cafe. The place really rocked. I mean people were WAY into it. Good for them! Then one day Eric Clapton decided to pop by - NBD, right? Eric also digged the vibe these Yanks were putting down, so he BIG UPPED the place in a major way. Suddenly, the place was bumping, as you can imagine. Then he decides to do the unthinkable... he hands over his concert guitar, autographed and everything and says "Look bud, you can have this guitar, if I can have this barstool be reserved for me, for the rest of my life." Maybe he didn't say 'bud', but you get the picture. And so started the legacy that is Hard Rock Cafe. Suddenly everyone wanted to show off their stuff, and in no time they had Lennon's glasses, Jagger's coat, etc. etc. Until they had enough memorabilia to fill the whole place up. Then they moved on over to America, and expanded worldwide. Well done, boys!
